In several eastern Ukrainian towns over the past week, the military opened fire on its own citizens. Dozens may have been killed in the violence. Although the U.S. government generally condemns a country’s use of military force against its own population, especially if they are unarmed protesters, this time the U.S. Administration blamed the victims. After as many as 20 unarmed protesters were killed on the May 9th holiday in Ukraine, the State Department spokesman said “we condemn the outbreak of violence caused by pro-Russia separatists.”

Why are people protesting in eastern Ukraine? Because they do not believe the government that came to power after the U.S.-backed uprising in February is legitimate. They do not recognize the authority of an unelected president and prime minister. The U.S. sees this as a Russian-sponsored destabilization effort, but is it so hard to understand that the people in Ukraine may be annoyed with the U.S. and EU for their involvement in regime change in their country? Would we be so willing to accept an unelected government in Washington put in place with the backing of the Chinese and Iranians?
The U.S. State Department provided much assistance earlier this year to those involved in the effort to overthrow the Ukrainian government. The U.S. warned the Ukrainian government at the time not to take any action against those in the streets, even as they engaged in violence and occupied government buildings. But now that those former protesters have come to power, the U.S. takes a different view of protest. Now they give full support to the bloody crackdown against protesters in the east. The State Department spokesperson said last week: “We continue to call for groups who have jeopardized public order by taking up arms and seizing public buildings in violation of Ukrainian law to disarm and leave the buildings they have seized.” This is the opposite of what they said in February. Do they think the rest of the world does not see this hypocrisy?
The residents of eastern Ukraine have long been closer to Russia than to the U.S. and EU. In fact, that part of Ukraine had been a part of Russia. After February’s regime change, officials in the east announced that they would hold referenda to see whether the population wanted autonomy from the U.S.-backed government in Kiev. The U.S. demanded that Russian President Putin stop eastern Ukraine from voting on autonomy, and last week the Russian president did just that: he said that the vote should not be held as scheduled. The eastern Ukrainians ignored him and said they would hold the vote anyway. So much for the U.S. claims that Russia controls the opposition in Ukraine.
Even though the Russian president followed U.S. demands and urged the eastern Ukrainians to hold off on the vote, the U.S. State Department announced that the U.S. would apply additional sanctions on Russia if the vote is held! Does this make any sense?
The real question is why the U.S. government is involved in Ukraine in the first place. We are broke. We cannot even afford to fix our own economy. Yet we want to run Ukraine? Does it really matter who Ukrainians elect to represent them? Is it really a national security matter worth risking a nuclear war with Russia whether Ukraine votes for more regional autonomy and a weaker central government? Isn’t that how the United States was originally conceived?
Has the arrogance of the U.S. Administration, thinking they should run the world, driven us to the brink of another major war in Europe? Let us hope they will stop this dangerous game and come to their senses. I say let’s have no war for Ukraine!

In a recent interview, Glenn Greenwald— the journalist instrumental in helping Edward Snowden leak classified national security documents last year— had some harsh words for Hillary Clinton and Americans likely to support her if she runs for President in 2016.
Greenwald told GQ that he hopes Clinton gets the Democratic nod so that Americans can learn from the mistake of blindly supporting candidates based on their race or sex and allowing the Nation to become a “de facto monarchy”:
The observations were made in response to a question about how he views all of the “early presidential jockeying” leading up to 2016:

Hillary is banal, corrupted, drained of vibrancy and passion. I mean, she’s been around forever, the Clinton circle. She’s a fucking hawk and like a neocon, practically. She’s surrounded by all these sleazy money types who are just corrupting everything everywhere. But she’s going to be the first female president, and women in America are going to be completely invested in her candidacy. Opposition to her is going to be depicted as misogynistic, like opposition to Obama has been depicted as racist. It’s going to be this completely symbolic messaging that’s going to overshadow the fact that she’ll do nothing but continue everything in pursuit of her own power. They’ll probably have a gay person after Hillary who’s just going to do the same thing.
I hope this happens so badly, because I think it’ll be so instructive in that regard. It’ll prove the point. Americans love to mock the idea of monarchy, and yet we have our own de facto monarchy. I think what these leaks did is, they demonstrated that there really is this government that just is the kind of permanent government that doesn’t get affected by election choices and that isn’t in any way accountable to any sort of democratic transparency and just creates its own world off on its own.

It’s happened again.

Another conservative African-American leader with the “taint” of a GOP past is invited to speak to a university. A small group of “enlightened” professors or students decide that the speaker is offensive to the highbrow standards of academia. A drumbeat starts and in a matter of days he or she is forced to withdraw in favor of a more “acceptable” replacement.

What open bigotry. What an assault on the entire concept of a true education in “the liberal arts.”

Condoleezza Rice was never a favorite of mine during the years of George H.W. Bush. I fell for the image pushed by the press that she was a “facts be damned” booster of Vice President Dick Cheney’s “let’s get ‘em at any cost and without solid proof” style of foreign policy.

But regardless of my ignorance of Rice’s job performance, what would a faithful execution of her duties as Secretary of State have anything to do with her worthiness as a commencement speaker at a second- or even third-tier university such as Rutgers?

I mean it’s a fine school (tying Texas A&M for 69th on last year’s U.S. News list of top schools). But Oxford or Cambridge it’s not.

Perhaps that is best illustrated by Rutgers’ decision to pay New Jersey’s version of Honey Boo Boo, the one and only “Snookie” of MTV reality fame, over $30,000 for an appearance there. How dreadful.

Ms. Rice’s unfair treatment by a select group of “intellectual” protesters at Rutgers was treated as par for the course by mainstream media. But it was not “par for the course” treatment. It was racist, cruel and anti-intellectual, bully-like behavior by “learned” men and women.

Had they directed their ire at a white equivalent, such as Hillary Clinton, their protests would have brought fire and brimstone upon their heads. And, hey, it’s no secret: I’m a fan of Hillary.

Al Sharpton, who has been accused of everything under the sun by critics, can speak wherever he pleases without protest or hassle. And that’s fair because this is America. If someone invites the man to speak, then speak he should.

But when Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, a conservative African-American, is chosen to speak at a commencement, there’s a good chance that “scholars of conscience” will raise hell about it. That happened in 2008 when Thomas was asked to return to his native Georgia to an even higher ranked national institution, the University of Georgia.

So let’s be clear about how this works. An idiot like Snookie can impart “wisdom” to Rutgers students. But when a woman with a Ph.D., who has studied at Harvard and Stanford, and who rose to become U.S. Secretary of State, is unworthy of sharing her observations to a group of 22-year-old students, the speech is met with protest.

This is not only racism but it is truly what I call “the honoring of ignorance.”

The Rutgers debacle is nothing new. It serves as a reminder of how our nation’s “intellectual elite” often end up paying homage to their own ignorance ... and racism.

We all love our TV, movies, social media chitchat and sports, and some people like to have a beer; but where is our focus? What should hold our attention?
I can tell you that whether we realize it or not, we are living in very critical times — by far the worst in 150 years, if not in U.S. history. We face the possible and probable loss of our savings and assets. We are in the midst of the breakdown of the rule of law which leads us to the breakdown of law and order. We are assaulted from all sides with a decline and coarsening of American culture.
We as a Christian nation are overlorded by Satanists who rule by lies and deception. Do the Congress, the President, the Supreme Court and the thousands of appointed bureaucrats have a loyalty or reverence for a deity? Yes, call it Skull and Bones, or other secret orders of ancient handshakes and symbols of the all-seeing eye of “providence” and “The New Order of the Ages.” Call it the illuminati. Call it the culture of greed and debasement. Call it the almighty dollar and unlimited power. Call it what you will, but recognize it for what it is.
That we live in or under a democracy and have the vote and civil rights is an illusion. We have no natural rights. We are under the tyranny of a runaway Federal judiciary. Federal judges rule by decree. Many people understand this on some level, but few admit it.
Criminals and murderers have preferred rights and the protection of the “law.” But the innocent people are spied upon, harassed, bullied, assaulted, deprived of property and imprisoned by the state for opposing state-approved orthodoxy or violating “laws” and “regulations” pulled out of the air by unelected, porn-obsessed bureaucrats. Only false hope and self-illusion keeps us believing in hoaxes and fantasies of the rule of law.
We should dismiss the lies of politicians and bureaucrats, realizing that they’d sooner tell a lie even when the truth better suits their purpose. Those skunks are paid by the Federal government. Where do we think their loyalty lies? Politicians are great deceivers, and they worship the great satanic golden calf. U.S. government is the politics of deception.
The fish rots from the head, so it’s not surprising that years of lawless Presidents ruling by edict in violation of the Constitution — aided and abetted by a compliant and feckless Congress and obsequious media — have led the devolution of the rule of law.
Are we listening to accountants and lawyers to understand what is “lawful?” We know that these people are owned by the system. They must worship at the feet of the altar of the system or be disbarred. Whatever they tell you conforms to the system.
There is no human freedom to be found in the fantasy world of the controlled media. We should avoid the controlled press and its directed messages.
Hollywood, the entertainment industry, the controlled media and all that implies is and has long been a leader in the debasement and coarsening of American culture. It is dominated by satanic rituals, pedophilia and sexual abuse.
There are new charges of abuse of children being made against directors and producers of blockbuster movies. These are echoes of the charges of a few years ago made by other former child actors. But these activities mostly remain sub rosa, and the animals that perpetuate these crimes are glorified for their artistic abilities and go on to create the films that dominate and direct popular culture.
Yes, these are the people who set the course for society by the mores they glorify and those they denigrate.
There are many phenomena today that have come about gradually. Revolution is silent, if gradual. Revolution is crisis and chaos, if not gradual. Gradualism is a process of bringing about change in a way that is imperceptible and unspoken. It avoids shooting revolution and bloodshed, but the endgame is certain.
Our U.S. dollar currency is in the process of destruction. We see and feel this in rising food prices and the overall increase in the cost of living.
We should know that the U.S. monetary system (actually a non-system) was created to enslave the workers and the creators of wealth with paper money. Depreciated paper money called U.S. dollars is sapping your wealth and savings while you sleep. Millions of Americans have already been impoverished, and millions more will be impoverished because they still live with false faith in a fantasy world of lies.
The U.S. dollar is a worldwide Ponzi scheme designed to defraud.
People begin to notice that their money buys less and less. They try to get ahead by gambling and creating schemes of fraud or engaging in outright theft. Moral breakdown is a direct result of devaluation of the currency, though very few people know it or get the connection.
As paper money depreciates and becomes worth less and less at the grocery store, the work ethic of the people begins to decline. People develop a “What’s the use” attitude because “Friday and payday” become meaningless. We have now reached a tipping point where there are as many people living off a government check as there are eking out a living in this overregulated, overtaxed, overburdened, hollowed-out fascist system.
Depreciation of the currency is a hidden process of transferring wealth and savings of the people to the government. Eventually, the endgame is the impoverishment of the entire population. But this is a process of ruse and gradualism. Few people understand it, and few take action to preserve their savings and wealth.
Governments never announce their intentions. So gradual and deceptive is the process that few in government even realize the failure of the system. It all goes back to the central bank(s) and its implosion of the financial and moral order. The central bank has corrupted the currency, creating a quicksand society.
We should give up false hope for reality and teach our children ourselves. They must be rescued from the public (non)education system, which teaches them equality, compliance and fealty to the state and propagandizes them against their own rights in the name of egalitarianism and socialism. It is a dumbing-down to the perfect level of obedience.

There are yet millions of intelligent, educated and good Americans who do not suspect the fraud, deceit and the breakdown of law and order in the U.S. They remain unaware that they are becoming impoverished by their own government. They see no blood in the streets, so they see no problem.
But government is failing at every level along with the collapse of morality. In the final stages of any government there is a breakdown of morality and work ethic. Society becomes “dog-eat-dog.”
The first trigger of alert is when a majority of people come to understand that government is organized crime and that government is at all-out war with its own citizens.
There are better times ahead, but we must first go through the fire. Exactly when that will happen is anyone’s guess. The elite are masters at manipulating and propping up the rickety system.
But collapse it will. All fiat systems rend themselves in the end. Those who are prepared will weather the storm. May God have mercy on those who are not.

Federal Government threaten rural Pot Growers in Washington State

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The green-cross storefronts of medical marijuana dispensaries are common in much of Washington, and the state is plowing ahead with licensing people to grow and sell recreational pot to adults.

But a federal trial scheduled to begin in the coming weeks for five people in Spokane suggests not all is OK with weed in the state.

Larry Harvey, a 70-year-old medical marijuana patient with no criminal history, three of his relatives and a family friend each face mandatory minimum sentences of at least 10 years in prison after they were caught growing about 70 pot plants on their rural, mountainous property.

The Harveys did have guns at their home, which is part of the reason for the lengthy possible prison time. They say the weapons were for hunting and protection, but prosecutors say two of the guns were loaded and in the same room as a blue plastic tub of pot.

Medical marijuana advocates have cried foul, arguing the prosecution violates Department of Justice policies announced by Attorney General Eric Holder last year that nonviolent, small-time drug offenders shouldn't face lengthy prison sentences.

"This case is another glaring example of what's wrong with the federal policy on cannabis," said Kari Boiter, Washington state coordinator for the medical marijuana group Americans for Safe Access.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Harrington, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Spokane, said he could not discuss the upcoming trial or the office's general approach to pot crimes.

But the case illustrates discrepancies in how law enforcement officials are handling marijuana cases as Washington — with the Justice Department's blessing — moves ahead with its grand experiment in pot legalization. Medical marijuana gardens the size of the Harveys' rarely draw attention from authorities in the Seattle area.

Under Initiative 502 about 30 people have so far been licensed to grow marijuana for sale at recreational pot shops slated to begin opening in July. Commercial medical marijuana dispensaries also operate in many cities, especially in Western Washington, generally considered the liberal half of the state.

Under federal law, marijuana remains illegal, and what the licensed growers are doing differs little from what Harvey and his family did.

In Colorado, the other state to legalize recreational marijuana, many pot shops even have armed security guards. Under federal law, that looks a lot like possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. There have been no recent federal charges involving commercial dispensaries in Western Washington or in Colorado absent indications of further criminality.

"Where commercial outlets are largely permitted in Western Washington, the (U.S. Attorney's Office) in Eastern Washington is subjecting individual patients to mandatory minimum prison sentences for private cultivation," defense attorneys in the Harvey case wrote to Attorney General Eric Holder, asking him to review the prosecution.

The DOJ has said since 2009 that prosecuting marijuana patients isn't a priority. It's allowing states to regulate marijuana for recreational or medical use, but it has reserved the right to target operations that don't follow state law or have ties to organized crime.

Defense lawyers say Spokane U.S. Attorney Mike Ormsby has charged cases that likely would not have been prosecuted in state court, where the defendants could have argued that they were complying with Washington's medical marijuana law, approved by voters in 1998. One defendant pleaded guilty to federal charges last week for having a 32-plant medical marijuana grow, to avoid a weapons charge for having guns at his house.

Douglas Hiatt, a Seattle lawyer, said the federal prosecutions are undermining the state's medical marijuana law.

Harvey, along with his wife, Rhonda Firestack-Harvey; her son, Rolland Gregg, and his wife, Michelle Gregg; and their friend, Jason Zucker, all had medical authorizations to use marijuana under state law. The Greggs and Zucker live in the Seattle area, and lawyers in the case say Zucker is the only one with previous criminal history, a conviction for marijuana growing. Harvey said he eats pot-laced cookies to ease pain from gout.

Douglas Phelps, a lawyer for Rolland Gregg, said many defendants feel they have no choice but to plead guilty to avoid long sentences, but the family feels strongly they did nothing wrong.

"Most people wouldn't take the chance of being convicted at trial," he said.

The Republican Establishment’s Fear Of The ‘L’ Word

One day before Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) tied with Jeb Bush to top yet another hypothetical GOP Presidential poll, potential Republican competitor Rick Santorum hatched a media strategy that’s likely to be widely duplicated in some GOP factions if Paul’s Presidential stock continues to rise: making “libertarian” sound like a dirty word.

As Santorum and just about every other Republican name brand knows, Rand Paul is not an outright libertarian — at least, not Rand Paul the Senator, GOP party member and possible Presidential candidate. He’s a fiscal conservative who strongly advocates for government to play no extra-Constitutional role in sorting out Americans’ civil liberties.

But he’s also Ron Paul’s son, and — for GOP establishment types, as well as the party’s conservative-right faction — that may turn out to be his greatest political liability through the 2016 primary season. He’s aware that a successful Presidential run will necessarily require casting a wider net, striking a tone with dispassionate voters that isn’t strident. He’s also aware that getting elected President is virtually impossible without persuading stalwart donor titans that he has a steady hand on their apple cart. In his talking points, his speech on foreign policy and individual liberties (drugs, homosexuality, religious freedoms) is restrained and, at times, politically vague in a way his father’s speech never was.

But even Paul’s deference to civil liberties, or the mere shadow of his father’s strongly polarizing legacy, is enough fodder for conservatives — like Santorum — who’ve shown the early signs of ascending along the GOP’s establishment path to political fortune. Late Monday, Santorum made sure to put as much distance between that dirty “L” word and his brand of Republican conservatism as possible, telling CNN “the Republican Party is not a libertarian party.”

No kidding. But the message he sent was more subtle: There’s no room in Santorum’s Republican Party for ostensible “libertarians” like Rand Paul.

We’ve trod this ground before. Last summer, back when the implications of the GOP’s new-blood insurgency were even murkier for 2016, Personal Liberty’s Sam Rolley discussed how the very idea of libertarianism can fracture the party:

The reason the GOP isn’t packed with politicians like Paul, Ted Cruz (Texas) and Justin Amash (Mich.) is because establishment Republicans are fond of accusing any lawmaker who dares question government’s power of having “libertarian ideas.” And it’s certainly an effective strategy, packing a one-two punch that makes foreign policy hawks balk at the idea of a Federal government unwilling to stick cannon in the face of any nation brazen enough to question American imperialism — and giving religious-right conservatives nightmares about a GOP moving toward accepting gays, abortions, drugs and all-out godlessness.

Santorum’s tactic for resisting even a little bit of libertarianism in the GOP is to anoint it an enemy and then charge straight at it. And it looks like the libertarian enemy in the Republican Party is going to be Rand Paul — not because he’s a dogmatic libertarian, but because his GOP detractors believe in the vote-swaying power of his perceived baggage.

“He’s not my leader, I can tell you that for sure,” Santorum said. “His father and I had some disagreements during the last campaign.”

At this point, Ron Paul could publicly disown his son, but it wouldn’t matter. The far political right is determined to steer Rand Paul’s political career into his father’s long, indelible shadow.

War may be rushing upon us. Like an indeterminate storm, it may divert or the storm may run out of energy. Regardless, what is happening in Ukraine and the political and military posturing over that country between Washington and Moscow could release a thermonuclear war over a country best known for its grain fields.

Then again, why should that be so strange? It was in 1962 when I was 5 years old that I remember my father talking about the immediate need for a family fallout shelter from a nuclear war that was about to erupt over the poor banana republic of Cuba. Why should it be any different half a century later? Nation states and the people who control them are still imbued with greed and are every bit as circumspect and nihilistic today as they were 50 years, or even 500 years, ago.

“Peace for our time,” declared British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in 1938, clutching Adolf Hitler’s signature before the onset of a war that killed more than 60 million people. But peace in any time is a utopian fantasy. As my carpenter friend who was also a karate instructor said, “Man will exist from the first ape swinging a club to the last man with his finger on the button.”

The truth is there will be no lasting peace in this or any time until the last missile has been fired and the last shot has been shot. In fact, it may not come until 100 years later, when the last club has been swung. If you remain the least bit doubtful of man’s innate ambitions for war, you haven’t been watching the pre-war posturing between President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin that is spilling like a whirlwind of wild oats spiraling in Ukraine and beyond its borders.

Yet brilliant men seem to ride the peace train one generation after another. In 1988, on the verge of ending the Cold War, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev declared that world-ending wars were forever gone: “It is obvious, for instance, that the use or threat of force no longer can or must be an instrument of foreign policy. This applies above all to nuclear arms, but that is not the only thing that matters.”

Yet the nuclear option has become the only option for both Moscow and the United States. Moscow no longer has the conventional army that could dig up Europe in a blitz to the English Channel. And Washington has always depended on its nuclear deterrent — everything from ballistic missiles to tiny tactical nukes — to stop Soviet aggression. When the Cold War ended, both sides agreed the cheap and non-discussed option was nuclear weapons.

If it sounds morally reprehensible, who in Washington or Moscow even cares?

In her new book Thermonuclear Monarchy: Choosing Between Democracy and Doom, Elaine Scarry asserts that the United States is only a country formerly dependent on its population, its legislature and its executive acting in concert for any act of defense. She says that today the United States has largely eliminated its population and its legislature from the sphere of defense, and it relies almost exclusively on its executive.

Simply put, the fate of the world is in the hands today of Obama and Putin or the powers that control both. To be even more direct, the lives of 200 million to 300 million people depend on Obama’s not screwing up and getting us into a nuclear war.

No wonder, believes Scarry, that these are very dangerous times:

It’s widely acknowledged that nuclear weapons are incredibly susceptible to accidental use or to seizure by a non-state actor or terrorist.

But what has been insufficiently recognized is the biggest danger of all: the belief that there is some “legitimate” possession of these weapons, that we are safe as long as there’s government oversight of them. In fact, they are utterly incompatible with governance.

So there we have it. Tempers are flaring, and the man who has made America into a spy state, has stricken our freedoms and has scorched so many of our rights under the Constitution now has the nuclear football (the briefcase with all U.S. launch codes) on him all the time. Not since Richard Nixon’s psychotic meltdown has America been less safe than it is today, when the entire fate of humanity is being decided by a former Soviet spy and a sympathetic Muslim President.

Of course, few if any of our popular press — or, as I call them, Obama’s Print and TV Productions — said a word of criticism. They say only how Putin is ex-KGB (which means that, unlike Obama, he at least once had a real job) and that he is Ivan The Terrible incarnate or, for most of the watchers on CNN who do not remember a day past grade 5, “Putin is Hitler.” (I am surprised the TV doesn’t yell at us: “Write it out 500 times!”)

Of course, the sources for what is becoming a bloody civil war are Ukrainian nationals — some of them the children and the grandchildren of tens of thousands of Ukrainians who had bloodlust for the Jews and a hatred of Russians that sometimes disgusted seasoned SS troops. Not true, you say? I say turn off CNBC and read a book.

Start with The Second World War: A Definitive History by Antony Beevor, who wrote of Ukrainian atrocities against both Jews and Bolsheviks in World War II. To believe that Beevor, a Brit and the most respected World War II historian of this age, would write such things two years in advance of a Ukrainian civil war is absurd. That Obama parrots on TV say wonderful things about Ukrainian “freedom fighters” after the conflict began is totally predictable and is carried out because Obama and his handlers know just how poorly educated most of the American people are — a people who “get their news” from Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon.

In other words, Ukraine is just as bad as the Russians. Yet we are going to risk all of humanity to preserve its freedom in a region of the world that is under the influence of Russia. Charles Darwin might argue that, in such case, our extinction is inevitable.

What is a fact is that there remain 10,000 nuclear weapons in the world, and 97 percent of them belong to Russia and the United States. The percentage of the nuclear stockpile that could kill 44 million people immediately and another 1 billion people over the following month is 0.015 percent.

There is much to like in the fictional character Kong’s survival list. In fact, just before the film’s release, the FBI screened the movie and was startled at the accuracy included in the Soviet and United States exchange, which resulted in an FBI interrogation of director Stanley Kubrick.

In the event of a full-scale nuclear exchange between the United States and Russia, lists will be meaningless. As Nikita Khrushchev once said, “The living will envy the dead.” But a limited nuclear war will be survivable if we are trained and prepared.

Unless you have years of experience and practice using a handgun, I prefer a 12-gauge pump shotgun. Also a water source and hundreds of gallons of bottled water are essential as is canned foods to be safely stored. Just the preparations necessary would require a book, but I urge you to become industrious and start making plans for a dark future brought down on us by a former Kenyan and a former communist.
