Sampie

Sampie Smith is feeling happy.
get a temporary green card. Things did not go well at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services USCIS) Office in Atlanta. In 2015-16 we made several trips to meet with am immigration attorney and a medical doctor who deals exclusively with would-be immigrants. We had to make several trips to the USCIS in Jacksonville, FL. Every one of these forays cost several hundred dollars for the most part. Last year the time of the green card was drawing nigh. I wrote a check for in excess of sixteen hundred dollars made out to USCIS, put it at the very top of piles of documents showing joint income tax returns, bills in both of our names for utilities, copies of our marriage licenses, copies of our divorce decrees, letters from friends who attested to staying with us in our home and many other things. On April 2 of last year we mailed this cardboard box the designated USCIS Office in Vermont. After a couple of months we were notified our case had been transferred to Massachusetts (You must understand the apprehension felt with each move. One vital piece of paper could have been lost in the shuffle!) Some three months ago were informed our case was being handled by the Mesquite office and yesterday we got a letter saying Lingjing was being granted permanent legal residence. The letter said her green card would be arriving within the next sixty days. We were also given United States Postal Service numbers to track the card. The card left Mesquite, TX several days ago headed to Knoxville, TN. From there it travels to Corbin, KY then on to Jacksonville, FL and finally Hinesville, GA.
