Fire Protection

To All,
Please see below update from your Fire Protection Committee Chairman, Allen Davis:
All,
Following, please find an update on efforts made by the Eastern Liberty County District Committee to present and secure the adoption of the Eastern District Fire Protection Plan (the "Plan"):
1. Paul Krebs, Joe Martin, and I met with Commissioner Marion Stevens and Liberty County Department of Public Safety Director Mike Hodges at the Liberty County Community Complex in Midway yesterday, 2/4/19, to review our Plan.
2. As set forth in the updated Plan attached, Director Hodges has agreed to include the level of staffing of the Sunbury Station included in the Plan in the Public Safety Department's 2020 FY operating budget which will be completed this month and presented to the County Administration for further review followed by being presented to the County Commission for final approval in April.
3. Commissioner Stevens will provide a copy of the Plan to all Liberty County Commissioners at their regularly scheduled meeting tomorrow night.
4. We will schedule a meeting with Allen Brown, Chairman, Liberty County Development Authority, to review the Plan and request that he present the Plan to the full Authority Board of Director and request their support to secure a site at Tradeport East for a new Eastern District Fire Station. Commissioner Stevens and Director Hodges have agreed to lend their continued support for the Plan and to attend the meeting with Chairman Brown.
5. We will be scheduling meetings with each of the other Commissioners to review the Plan as soon as possible.
6. As previously discussed, we intend to contact representatives of the Liberty County Hospital Authority to discuss the adoption of an Emergency Medical Services Plan for the Eastern District.
7. We intend to introduce and address the adoption of a Marine Rescue Plan at the appropriate time.
Please help us provide this update to our neighbors and other residents of Eastern Liberty County and get back to me with any questions or comments.
Thanks,
Allen
